I just purchased this bag recently. My excuse was I needed a non leather bag for a ski trip. My friends say that I can always come up with so many excuses to justify my unnecessary purchases. However, I believe that this one purchase was absolutely necessary 🙂

I was looking for a bag which would be able to withstand water. Obviously, I was looking for a non-leather bag.  Since I don’t like anything that is not leather, it was a little bit challenging to find something that I liked.

At first, I was considering the Longchamp Le Pliage. Unfortunately, the lack of luster and the plastic zipper turned me off.  Then I found the JPK Paris bag on sale at Nordstrom.com.  I remembered that I wrote about JPK Paris bag a while ago and that it was pretty pricey for a nylon bag. Luckily, this particular color and size (seafoam maxi) is 50% off at Nordstrom.  I would not have bought it if it were full price.

The things that I love about this bag are: I can just throw it on the snow and it doesn’t get wet. The color is bright and has some sheen to it. It has lots of pockets inside: 2 zippered and 2 snap closures, where the zippers are metal with gold tone. Last but not least, the chunky hardware adds glam to the bag.

If you are looking for a non-leather bag and you don’t want to look like you are carrying a grocery bag, this bag is definitely for you.  Buy from Nordstrom for $96.90

I never thought that I would be interested in nylon bags. I’ve seen this bag around for a while now. every time I see it I ended up touching it and trying it on. I didn’t write a review right away because…well…it’s made of nylon. Nevertheless, the more I see it, the more I like it. Everything about this bag is very well made. If I have to choose the best part of the bag, it would be the hardware.  The hardware is so shiny and smooth that it literally lights up the whole bag and makes the nylon bag look somewhat expensive. Unfortunately, this particular nylon bag is expensive indeed (for a nylon bag).  It is priced at $245.  I’m not sure if I’m willing to spend over $200 for a nylon bag, but if it is on sale I might want to get one. This one is definitely great for a rainy day.

The one thing that attracts me to this clutch is the color.  I love how it gradate from black to light gray to the middle of the clutch.  The shape and design are fairly simple and elegant.  Since the size is not too big (22 cm x11 cm x 6 cm), this clutch will be appropriate for day or night.  It also has chain strap that tucks away in the clutch.

This clutch is made of patent eco-leather, which means it’s not leather.  It is now on sale on Forzieri for $99

I know that there is not much going on with this bag.  However, I think this is a very cool looking bag. The chain detailing makes the bag look tough and the slouchy shape gives it a more casual look.  Judging by the price of this bag ($1,145), I would expect it to be made of genuine leather.  Unfortunately, it is made of faux-leather which is a major turn off for me, especially at a price point of over $1000.

When I see designers make cheaper lines of their brands, I always assume that they are not as good as the more expensive line.  However, this is not the case with Donna Karan bags.  Lately, I’ve noticed that DKNY bags are a lot better than the Donna Karan bags and they are a lot cheaper too.

I like this DKNY Satin Medium Shopper. Even though it is not made of leather, it still manages to look sumptuous and rich thanks to the satin sheen.  The interesting hardware also adds some glam to the simple bag. The only thing I wish were different is the shoulder strap.  Since the handles are made of leather, it would be nice if the shoulder strap were also made of leather.

All in all, I think it is a great bag with great value.  Buy from Bloomingdale’s for S195

I like the Gucci Charlotte asymmetrical adjustable shoulder straps, they certainly add appeal to the otherwise simple and regular looking bag.  If I were to buy the bag, these shoulder straps would be the main reason for me to buy the bag, since I don’t care much for canvas nor monogram designs.  However, for Gucci monogram fans, this will be a great bag.  It has a classic shape which means it will lasts for many years to come, and the neutral color matches easily with your wardrobe.  The shoulder straps look comfortable and would fit well on the shoulder without slipping. The 16 1/2″W x 11″H x 7″D measurement assures it’s functionality.  All in all, this is a good and functional bag. It’s just not an exciting bag for me.

This Peggy clutch really speaks to me. I like everything about it.  I like the simple style, the python texture, and the gold hardware against the dark red color.  The gold hardware can be pulled up and you can carry it like a tote.  This means you are getting two looks in one price.

After reading the description of the clutch, I learned that the python is not real. It is actually embossed. I’m fine with embossed python as long as it is done nicely.  I remember looking at brand new python bags in Michael Kors boutique with the scales flaking off and it was not a good sight. I guess embossed python is not so bad after all.  At least we know it won’t flake off.

The one thing that bothers me the most about this clutch is that it is not made of leather.  The description said it is made of faux-patent leather.  So, I’m guessing that it is made of PVC.  I wish that they had made this in leather. I have this odd infatuation with handbags and leather. I get really disapointed when I find a bag that I like but is not made of leather.  But if you are nothing like me, you can buy this from Shopbop for $132. This clutch measures 7″H x 11″L.
